Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs Year-End Awards

Purpose
The Balfour Center Year End Award event takes place every May and is designed to provide an opportunity for the Providence College community to recognize the academic and extracurricular achievements of Multicultural Scholarship Program (MSP) recipients and others on campus.

Eligibility
The Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs invites Multicultural Scholarship Program recipients as well as all Providence College students to nominate individuals to be considered for the 2008-2009 Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs Awards.

Form of Entry
Application forms will be available at the Balfour Center (Harkins Hall 310) and by email (request to kyanes@providence.edu). Self-nominations are allowed and there is no limit in the number of applications and categories you can enter. Please note that only completed applications will be reviewed

Deadline
Please return your completed nominations to Kahlil Yanes, administrative coordinator, by Friday, April 17, 2009. Nominations can be submitted by e-mail (kyanes@providence.edu) or by campus mail. Forms may also be under at following web address: http://www.providence.edu/Balfour+Center/Events/

List of Awards

Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Equity Award is presented to a student who has increased awareness of issues of equity, diversity and/or social justice in the Providence College community.

Service Award is presented to a student who has provided exemplary service on campus and surrounding community.

Leadership Award is presented to a student who has increased the profile of historically underrepresented students by participating in leadership roles throughout his/her experience at Providence College.

Inspiration Award is presented to a student who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to support, motivate, and inspire his or her classmates.

Academic Excellence Award is presented to a student for significant scholarly achievement (cumulative 3.5 or above GPA) and exemplary contributions to the Balfour Center for Multicultural Affairs. (Multicultural Scholarship Program Scholars Only)
