Dear Students,
In response to student concerns raised about the timing of payment of the College's new student parking fee, arrangements have been made to now enable students to continue to submit their parking permit applications without paying for the permit immediately. Students may continue to submit their applications to the Office of Safety and Security for parking permits. However, the $100 per semester or $200 per year parking fee will now be charged to a student's account and will appear in the student's upcoming tuition bill. For those students who have already paid the fee, the charge and a credit for payment will appear on the student's upcoming tuition bill. Students wanting to make payments against their student accounts should do so at the Student Accounts Office. The Office of Safety and Security will no longer be accepting payments.
With the exception of this change in the timing of payment, the parking application process outlined at http://www.providence.edu/Student+Life/Safety+and+Security/Campus+Parking/ will remain the same. The Office of Safety & Security will continue accepting applications until May 8th.
The decision to charge a $200 fee for parking was a very difficult one but was done in light of the economy as well as to ensure that the College can continue to enhance and improve the quality of student life, particularly student transportation, in the midst of uncertain economic times. I hope that this amended payment plan helps to address concerns that have been raised. Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Fr. Brendan Murphy, O.P.
Vice President
Student Affairs Administration
