The Providence College Community should be aware of an Aggravated Assault reported to the Providence Police and Office of Safety and Security on September 28, 2008.

On September 28, at approximately 12:10 AM a Providence College student was stabbed in the abdomen outside Golden Crust Pizza, 228 Oakland Ave., Providence. Witnesses at the scene described the assailant as a small white male with dark hair, wearing a red sweatshirt with a black ball cap. The victim and several friends had been involved in a physical altercation with five to seven individuals in front of Golden Crust. The assailants then fled north on Oakland Ave., toward Eaton St. The victim's injuries are not considered to be life threatening at this time. Two friends of the victim (non-students) were treated for minor stab wounds.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Providence Police at 272-3121 or the Office of Safety and Security at 865-2391.

Whenever possible it is recommended that students call 911 if they fall victim or witness a crime or emergency off-campus. This insures the most timely and efficient response from appropriate authorities when seconds can make a difference.
