Assemblage artist Rosalind Fedeli creates reliquary-like containers that are filled with artifacts. Each of her containers houses a miniature world. Fedeli combines found and fabricated objects as well as passages of painting within her boxes to express inner feelings, which are often laden with mystical overtones. As she states: “I entice the viewer to enter the world I’ve created, beckoning with mystery, passion and humor.”

Curated by Professor Ann Norton of Providence College, Afghanistan: Tradition and Renewal presents a portrait of contemporary war-torn Afghanistan. As the exhibition shows, Afghanistan has always been a society at the crossroads in terms of religion and geography. Today it is at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. In addition to providing the gallery visitor with stunningly beautiful examples of handicraft, the exhibition features fascinating contemporary artifacts from the current war.
