To all members of the Providence College community:
It has come to our attention that several more rounds of phishing messages have been received by students, faculty, and staff at Providence College. These messages ask that you verify your account information by replying with your email address and password. These messages are not coming from the IT department or the Helpdesk.
The Providence College IT Department will NEVER ask for your password. If you see an email asking for your password, you should suspect fraud and delete the email. No legitimate organization will ever ask for personally identifiable information be sent via email. If you are unsure of the validity of an email, you should forward the message to helpdesk@providence.edu before replying and someone will be able to let you know if the email is legitimate or not.
We have also created a page with information on phishing scams. It is recommended that you read through it and become familiar. These types of scams are becoming more prevalent as more and more communication and business is performed on the internet. You can access our page at
