[PC-12] PC Symphonic Winds^Gil Evans Concert

The Providence College Music Department Concert Series continues this Sunday, October 19th, at 4 PM in the Ryan Concert Hall, Smith Center for the Arts, with a performance by Symphonic Winds and the Gil Evans Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Christopher Kelton.

The first half of the program will be devoted to band music, including the Gordon Jacob Original Suite, Malcolm Arnold’s Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo and Rimsky-Korsakoff’s Procession of the Nobles from Mlada.

The second half of the program will include 2 pieces for jazz combo, Charlie Parker’s Yardbird Suite and David Laprade’s Roz’ Samba. David Laprade is a sophomore saxophonist at PC and a member of the Gil Evans Ensemble. The final piece on the program will be Blue Bossa by Kenny Dorham, arranged by Michael Kregler for 10-piece jazz ensemble.

Admission is free, although donations to the scholarship fund are gratefully accepted.
