CRIME ALERT - October 21, 2008

  Armed Robbery

The Providence College Community should be aware of an Armed Robbery reported to the Providence Police and Office of Safety and Security on October 21st, 2008.

On October 21st,2008 at approximately 1:10 AM two Providence College students reported that while walking back to campus from Louies Bar they were robbed at gunpoint behind the Walgreens Drug Store on Admiral Street at Douglas Avenue. The students reported that they were with three others in the back parking lot of Walgreens when the incident occurred. They described their assailant as a tall thin African American male, in his twenties, wearing a black hooded sweat with a red stripe. He pulled a silver handgun from his waist band and demanded the money in their wallets.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Providence Police at 272-3121 or the Office of Safety and Security at 865-2391.

The College is currently working with the Providence Police on increasing the patrols in this area due to recent crimes. Whenever possible it is recommended that students call 911 if they fall victim or witness a crime or emergency off-campus. This insures the most timely and efficient response from appropriate authorities when seconds can make a difference.
