NEIGHBORHOOD SHUTTLE SERVICE
PC's Neighborhood Shuttle provides FREE transportation to PC students from 6pm to 1am, Sunday-Thursday. On Friday and Saturday nights, the shuttle runs from 6pm to 2:30am. From 6-7pm the shuttle travels to Shaws (Sunday-Thursday) and Wal-Mart (Friday-Saturday). It then spends the rest of the evening looping through campus and off-campus housing areas. The shuttle departs from the rear of Raymond Hall at the top of the hour and on the half hour. It completes the route approximately every 20 minutes. Please don't walk unaccompanied at night, ride the shuttle! Please note: We request that students pick up the shuttle along its route. For more info, call x2940.

THE EAST SIDE SHUTTLE
Looking to get off campus and explore the great city you live in?? Ever wonder what else there is to do downtown? Hop on the East Side Shuttle and discover Providence this weekend! The Shuttle will make stops on Thayer St., Wickenden St., North and South Main St., and Federal Hill. Enjoy the many shops, restaurants and attractions Providence has to offer! The Shuttle will run on Friday and Saturday Nights. It will depart from the rear of Raymond Hall at the top of each hour between 6 and 11pm. Making it back to campus on the shuttle is the student's responsibility - please make plans accordingly.

TRAVELING FOR THANKSGIVING?
Shuttle Service to T.F. Green Airport:
The Shuttle will depart from the rear of Raymond Hall on Tuesday, November 25th at 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5pm. Reserve your seat in advance at the SAIL Office, Slavin 104! "Hunger Awareness Week: The Global Food Crisis" is geared to raising awareness on the increasing cost of food and its effects on communities across the globe. The crisis is the worst problem in food security in years. As a Providence College community, how can we show our support to those suffering? How much do we waste as a campus? We are about to find out!

Hunger Awareness Week: Film and Reflection on Hunger & Poverty, 7pm, Chapel Basement
Screening of "When did you see me hungry?" with reflection on hunger and poverty to follow.
The 37-minute film, narrated by Martin Sheen, is a photographic meditation on the plight of the poor and our responsibility to help. Gerard Thomas Straub spent months living among the poor in the impoverished sections of 29 cities in nine nations: India, Brazil, Kenya, Jamaica, the Philippines, Mexico, Italy, Canada, and the US. Images document the life of the poorest of the poor, including a leper colony in Brazil, were taken from a startling and disquieting series of 250 intensely personal black-and-white photographs. I.O.U.S.A Movie Viewing, 7-9pm, '64 Hall
Join Pi Sigma Alpha and the Economics Club for a viewing of I.O.U.S.A., a financial documentary exploring the rapidly growing national debt and its consequences to the United States and its citizens. Using candid interviews from Warren Buffett, Alan Greenspan, and former U.S. Comptroller General David Walker, this film examines the financial woes that America must mend or "face an economic disaster of epic proportions." There will be a brief framing of the issues covered in the film by Dr. Bill Hudson of the Political Science Department, and an opportunity for discussion afterwards. This is an excellent film that treats some very important issues. Start taking ownership of your nation's financial future by educating yourself on the facts.

Just Lunch is a monthly, lunchtime lecture and roundtable discussion focused on the Catholic Church's social teaching. Come learn about important solutions to solving hunger in this fun and interactive presentation! Heifer International is an organization that promotes sustainable development for impoverished families in the third world. Hunger Awareness Week: 30-Hour Fast
The 30 Hour Fast is an opportunity to join in solidarity with the millions of people who face chronic hunger everyday. Fasters will start at noon on Friday and end at 6pm on Saturday. Along with fasting, activities, opportunities for service and other fun things will be in the Chapel Basement starting Friday at 6pm until 6pm Saturday. All participants are invited to "break the fast" with a breakfast style dinner. Sign-ups will be available in the Chapel Basement and at Ray November 9th and 10th. Sponsored by Campus Ministry.

This event is the Unified Basketball Tournament for Special Olympics Rhode Island. There will be approximately 250 athletes attending the event, in addition to a large number of volunteers and family members. Opening ceremonies for the event begin at 9am and the event will end at approximately 3pm. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 8am and 3pm. Garden Clean-up
Interested or need community service hours? Habitat for Humanity is having a garden clean-up on November 15th from 10:45am-2pm. Raise Your Voice Campaign
Mini-grants of $500 are available for student involvement! Rhode Island and Massachusetts Campus Compacts will soon be issuing the 2008-2009 Raise Your Voice Presidential Civic Engagement Funds. This fund provides an opportunity to promote student voice and implement positive change on campus and in the community. In recent years Providence College students have used this grant to raise awareness around issues such as immigration, social isolation, and diversity at PC and in the broader community. The grant activities are to be implemented during March/April 2009. Collaboration among campus groups / communities is strongly encouraged. If interested in applying for this grant, come to an Info Session on Monday, November 10 at 5pm in the Suites Pavilion or contact, Lizzie Lydon at pspvista1@providence.edu.

Tavares Youth Recreation Center on Chad Brown St., Providence - Contact Nicole Reilly at ndufresne@bgcprov.org
Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis Monday-Friday from 3-6pm. Volunteers would need to commit to one day a week for three hours for at least the semester, if not the entire school year. Volunteers would facilitate and assist with activities for youth in the Chad Brown area.

Back by popular demand! Looking for a fun and dynamic way to exercise? Join the aqua-fitness class. Deep water gym workouts are designed to work multiple muscle groups of the upper and lower body, which can result in greater cardiovascular output and excellent toning.
